Congratulations Karen, a fabulous result for Raise in the ACT

This year Westfield in Woden ACT acknowledged our Canberra Program Coordinator Karen Mohring as a finalist for 2024 and awarded her a grant for $5,000 that will go directly to supporting our programs in the Canberra community.

Raise Foundation is proud to be involved again in the Westfield Local Heroes Program. This year Westfield in Woden ACT acknowledged our Canberra Program Coordinator Karen Mohring as a finalist for 2024 and awarded her a grant for $5,000 that will go directly to supporting our programs in the Canberra community.

Westfield Local Heroes is a recognition and awards program that shines a spotlight on the individuals and organisations in Australia and New Zealand who make a positive impact to their local community or environment. Community members nominate their Westfield Local Hero by filling in an online nomination form. Nominations are assessed by a Westfield selection panel against a set criteria to create a shortlist of three finalists per Westfield destination. These three finalists are promoted locally, and communities are invited to vote for their preferred hero.

The successful Westfield Local Hero with the highest number of community votes for each Westfield centre is awarded a $20,000 grant for the organisation they represent. Finalists receive a $5,000 grant for their organisation.

Raise would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Scentre Group for their generous contribution through the Westfield Local Heroes grant. This funding will significantly support our mission to improve youth wellbeing by connecting trained and trusted mentors with every young person in Australia who needs one. Our goal is to help young people survive adolescence, believe in themselves and others, and equip them with tools for life. Thank you, Scentre Group, for your support and for recognising the efforts of individuals like Karen who are making a difference in our community.

We are incredibly proud that one of our dedicated Program Counsellors, Karen, was nominated for the Woden Westfield Local Hero award. Karen’s commitment to facilitating local ACT programs has made a profound impact on the lives of many young people, and this recognition is a testament to her hard work and dedication.

Nominations for community groups are now open for the 2025 Westfield Local Heroes program, if you’d like to vote for one of your program counsellors, you can do so here.
